February 16, 2001:

Dear Friends and Family, good morning from a beautiful day in Nairobi, Kenya!

My apologies to many of you who receieved a blank email last time around-some got it and some didn't.... so here's another shot, and updated!

My eyes have been opened to how much can be accomplished when we are focused. Here on this mission trip we have been very focused and the LORD continues to help us strive for excellence for HIS glory. -as we practice, clean, pray, eat, and rehearse together.

Today i reached the ONE MONTH mark here in Kenya! WOW- a lot has happened since Jan 16th!

-The past weeks have included trips to Moi Hospital-to fellowship with a body that meets there and minister to them, a prayer walk to Ruhuma "grace" is the English translation, and witnessed absolute widespread poverty-met with some locals and prayed with some, prayer mtgs on wed. night.

-The great intensity with which we as PIONEERS have been working at has slowed a little to allow us to recharge and rest a little, so that we as a team can con't to be productive.

.... WED (14th) we traveled to Kitali and Moi's Bridge for a little R&R!!! enjoyed a national museum (1/2 museum 1/2 zoo)!, ate nyama choma -kenyan BBQ -it was goat meat! and in the afternoon ministered at a primary school of 375 children, it was a true blessing! AND AGAIN HAPPY BELATED SISTER -sarah k Hayes turned 21 on valentines day!!! LOVE YA SIS!

Yesterday (15th of feb) i safely arrived in Nairobi to visit and vacation here with Melissa Minton -2 year journeygirl from ALABAMA.-this place is like a palace and i had culture shock b/c of all the great things here, but have adjusted:) i'll be traveling back to ELdoret (my home away from home away from home..) saturday sometime. -please pray for journey mercies!

In just a few minutes i'll be leaving to go to an animal orphage to see giraffes, rhinos, elephants!! PTL

Last week some of the team traveled to Kasumu (Lake Victoria) beautiful and excited that the LORD opened doors to travel.

The necessity of prayer is always before me. Asking Christ to help us "keep in step with the Spirit" GAL 5:25. I humbly ask for your prayers to not cease for me, the church, the pastor, members, nominal christians (as they are called here- somehow polite for someone NOT trusting in CHRIST for salvation) in our midst.

A friend asked me last email, about our bodies, YES< PTL he has healed us all, and gave me a SUPER QUICK recovery of some junk in the throat!

Many joined the church officially last week, which was encouraging, and this week our lunch hour fellowship has begun. Please con't to pray for GOD to make us single purposed -to GLORIFY HIM and ENJOY HIM in all we do! In HIS grip,

Marland Hayes
