THE STORY OF ISAAC WATTS
As we approach the Christmas season we undoubtedly will
hear the song "Joy to the World" in our shopping tortures and on the
radio. Who wrote this wonderful song? His name was Issac Watts. He
wasn't much to look at, in fact he had a crook nose about two sizes larger than his
face. He never married, but one woman fell in love with him after reading his
poetry. However, after seeing him she felt it was the will of God only to be
friends. He was a genius. He learned latin at age four. Eventually he
read Greek, Hebrew and French. He wrote more than 600 hymns and the greatest
compliment to him is that his songs are still sung today. After some 10 generations
we still sing his songs every Christmas.
The great thing about the
Kingdom of God is that your appearance has nothing to do with your worth. Please
believe that if nature has made you plain, the grace of God can make you beautiful,
valuable and remembered for decades after your death.
May God bless us as we sacrifically serve Him,
John Wardy
