THE STORY OF JOHN WESLEY

John Wesley is probably the most recognized figure on our stories to date.  He is the father of the Methodist denomination.  His life dates from 1703 to 1791.  He was the fifteenth of nineteen children.  He was raised in a remarkable family.  His sister at age 8 could read the entire New Testatment ......IN THE ORIGINAL GREEK!!  His home caught fire when he was only six and he barely escaped death.  He knew from then that God had a distinct purpose for his life.In college he organized the "Methodist" club where the members studied the New Testament in greek and held each other accountable for it's principles.  It was called the Methodist club because it's members were so "methodical" in their ways.  As incredible as it may seem John wasn't a  Christian when he did these things.  He even went to Georgia to share Christ and minister to the people.  It was a disaster.  He returned to England thinking that he had tried to convert the heathen but who was going to convert him.  In 1738 he heard one of Martin Luther's sermons on salvation by faith and was converted.  He dates his salvation from this point.

This incredible man throughout his life rode over 250,000 miles on horseback and preached over 42,000 sermons.  However one thought stands out about John Wesley.  It is possible to wonderful things in the name of the Lord and not know Him as your savior.  It is only through personal faith in the death, burial and ressurection of Jesus Christ that one becomes a Christian and is saved from His judgment.  Looking back at what He did on that cross and believing that Christ died in your place and that no work on your own can do satisfy God.  This is salvation and there is no other way.  If you haven't done this dear reader simply ask Christ to be your Savior and he will be.

May God bless us as we serve Him,

                                                                             JOHN WARDY
